There are two different ways to add your BRHS Gmail account to your IOS device:

Gmail account type (jump to steps)

  • (plus) Fewest steps to configure
  • (plus) Ability to archive messages with swipe action
  • (plus) Syncs Notes with IOS Notes app
  • (minus) Only fetches messages every 15 minutes or with manual refresh
  • (minus) Only syncs primary Google Calendar without additional configuration

Microsoft Exchange account type (jump to steps)

  • (plus) (plus) Push messaging for instant delivery of new messages
  • (plus) Easy syncing of all Google Calendars
  • (minus) No Notes syncing

 

Gmail account type 

  1. Make sure you've enabled IMAP in your main Gmail settings.

  2. Open the Settings app on your device.

  3. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  4. Tap Add Account...

  5. Tap Google (Gmail in older versions).

  6. Enter your account information, being sure to use your BRHS email address (including '@brrice.edu') and your BRHS Account password.

  7. Tap Next.

  8. Tap Save.


Microsoft Exchange account type

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap Add Account...
  4. Tap Exchange.

      
Enter Account Info

 

  1. In the Email field, enter your full email address. (username@brrice.edu)
  2. Leave the Domain field blank.
  3. Enter your full BRHS email address again as the Username.
  4. Enter your BRHS Account password as the Password.
  5. Tap Next at the top of your screen.

  6. Choose Cancel if the Unable to Verify Certificate dialog appears.
  7. When the new Server field appears, enter m.google.com.
  8. Press Next at the top of your screen again.

     
Enable Mail and Calendar

 

  1. Select the Google services (Mail, Calendar, and Contacts) you want to sync. To receive and respond to meeting requests on your device, both Mail and Calendar need to be turned on.

  2. Unless you want to delete all the existing Contacts and Calendars on your phone, select the Keep on my iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) option when prompted.
